With international travel still restricted, two Tokyo-based artists were invited: illustrator Tomoe Miyazaki and illustrator/author Erika Kobayashi. Tomoe created site- specific works and led workshops with middle school students, culminating in a group exhibition. Erika,unable to travel due to a local COVID outbreak, developed her contribution remotely.

Both artists were invited to reflect on the everyday life of Ojika. Tomoe explored the theme of scale, producing a series of three-dimensional objects made from painted cardboard, as well as several small book-based works. She also organized workshops with local residents, who—together with Tomoe—recreated their favorite books in oversized format, drawing and painting new interpretations of them. These sessions were open to both the general public and middle school students. Tomoe additionally collaborated with participants to create a collective artwork for the Ofuroba (bathhouse), which was later converted into an exhibition space.

Working from Tokyo, Erika Kobayashi focused on the intimate details of memory. She conducted extensive interviews with Ojika residents, asking them to recall people who had deeply influenced their lives or whom they remembered with affection. Based on these conversations, Erika created a series of drawn portraits— visual traces of memory and emotional connection.

In addition to the works by Tomoe and Erika, Studio The Future produced a new video work inspired by their activities. The piece sought to capture the unease and impermanence of the pandemic period, while also expressing the urgent need for global climate action, international collaboration, and mutual support.

All works were presented together in the newly renovate Ofuroba Gallery, which was restored specifically to function as a gallery and semi-public community space.
